Welcome to the future of wellness, exploring self transformation and holistic healing to unlock your inner potential. Hosted by Christabel Armston and Keith Parker. Hello and welcome to this spotlight episode. Today we're going to be talking about energetic differentiation and energetic communication. Perhaps one of the most important areas or common areas of interest in people learning to explore the realm of subtle sensing and energy healing is the idea of energetic exchange, energetic hygiene practices or this fear of empathic overwhelm. Put simply, learning how to cultivate and better understand where you end and where others begin. This topic is reflected commonly in trainees through a broad range of questions and concerns how to practice good energetic hygiene, how to protect oneself from other people's energy fear, perhaps, of taking on others energy in a healing exchange, or even in day-to-day life. This can be particularly relevant when we consider our close relationships, such as our partners or parents, where we can become entangled. As research from institutions such as HeartMath continues to develop and support what those who are psychically sensitive have perhaps always understood, there is a growing interest in understanding the subtle dynamics of energetic communication or energetic exchange, both in personal development and relational contexts. This approach of energetic wellness, we might say, is an area that is going to become increasingly prevalent as we move into more subtle and sensitive relationship to this existence of the human aura or biofield and start to better understand the impact of subtle and not-so-subtle energetic exchange or communication that takes place between ourselves and others.
Speaker 1Firstly, I'll open with some context. The concepts, say, of sympathetic resonance and morphic fields are fascinating when exploring the dynamics of energy and communication. Sympathetic resonance refers to the phenomenon where two systems in proximity and having a similar vibrational frequency resonate together. So on a piano, say, this happens when a note is played and the sound waves cause the other strings tuned to the same or related harmonic frequencies to vibrate, even though those strings haven't been struck. This principle mirrors sympathetic resonance in energetic terms. So just as a piano strings resonate with similar frequencies, people or systems resonate when their energy aligns. This can happen between individuals or in a larger group setting.
Speaker 1When one person achieves a certain energetic state or emotional state, such as calm or coherence, then others nearby can pick up on that vibration and begin to resonate to it. This is often why someone's calm energy can bring peace to a room. This principle is closely tied to Hartmuth's research on heart coherence and the electromagnetic fields produced by the heart. So, in studies by Hartmuth, negative emotions such as anger and anxiety, or negative thoughts actually caused erratic or imbalanced heart rhythm patterns. So the patterns of participants who activated positive and sincere feelings such as compassion, appreciation or love, quickly became smooth and balanced. So, in short, when individuals actually achieve coherence, their field is able or can influence others and creating this shared sense of calm or alignment On the flip side. Of course, this is also why stress or anxiety in one person can trigger stress or anxiety in others. So in energetic communication, sympathetic resonance explains how emotions and energetic states are often contagious, affecting the collective atmosphere, and increasingly people are becoming aware that there is no such thing as a private thought.
Speaker 1So a second important concept worth mentioning is that of morphic fields. This this was introduced by biologist Rupert Sheldrake and suggests that there are invisible fields that organize not only the shape and structure of living beings but also behaviors and patterns within a species, and we can think of these fields as acting like blueprints that influence biological systems, carrying information that's not stored in the DNA but in a collective field of knowledge. So in the realm of energetic communication, this concept implies that individuals are not just shaped by their immediate surroundings, but by a larger collective field of energy and consciousness. So, thinking on this, this could explain why certain emotional, social or behavioral patterns are transmitted between groups or generations without direct contact or communication. Sheldrake suggests that by interacting with these fields, individuals can influence or be influenced by the energy of others, much like we see in sympathetic resonance. So these two ideas bridge the gap between our personal energy and that of collective consciousness, supporting the notion that energy is actually a form of communication, whether between individuals or within larger systems. Together, sympathetic resonance and morphic fields offer us a deeper understanding of how we are all interconnected through energetic vibrations and fields. So both theories emphasize that our energy is in fact, not isolated there's no such thing as a private thought but it affects and is affected by the collective around us, so influencing everything from individual interactions to social dynamics. So how does this relate back to the individual?
Speaker 1We've discussed a little about what energetic communication is and why it's important, and many people are looking to improve their empathic or their energetic communication, seeking to understand how to better connect this with others while maintaining healthy energy boundaries. So how can we do this? Firstly, let's consider what are the signs of poor energetic boundaries. So a common phrase that comes up often is empathic overwhelm. Many of us, whether we identify with this label of empath or otherwise, often feel drained, anxious, emotionally overloaded. So sensitive people do not always realize that they are in fact wearing other people's emotions in their body and their actions. Some people notice the emotions but are not able to identify them as from other, so they may experience abrupt mood changes as they tune into groups matching the emotional tone or resonance of another person.
Speaker 1Poor energetic boundaries often occur for several reasons. These are often linked to our personal history, our emotional states or even the environment that we're in. So I'm going to talk through a few of the key factors. Firstly, really important unresolved emotional trauma. So experiences such as childhood trauma, so say, difficult relationships or even neglect can leave emotional wounds that make it hard for us to distinguish our energy from others. It can lead to a tendency to apparently absorb other emotions or energy, blurring the boundaries between ourself and those other people. Another one is a lack of self-awareness. So if people aren't attuned to their own energy or emotional states, if they lack presence and self-awareness, then they're often going to struggle to identify when someone else's energy is actually affecting them ends and where other people's energy begins, it's easy for those boundaries, those energetic boundaries, to become what we might think of as porous or blurry.
Speaker 1Empathy overload is another one to consider. So those who are naturally empathic or highly sensitive actually tend to have weaker energetic boundaries. So, as said before, empaths will often unconsciously wear other people's energy as their own, without necessarily even realizing it. This can be really unconscious and it can leave them feeling drained or overwhelmed. External pressures and social conditioning is another one to consider. So societal norms will often emphasize that self-sacrifice or people-pleasing behaviors, and this can cause people to actually really stretch their boundaries, prioritizing others' needs over their own, and over time this can weaken the ability to maintain healthy energetic separateness.
Speaker 1Energetic imbalances is another one. When one's energy system is not balanced, it can actually be difficult to maintain strong boundaries. Finally, I'll mention overexposure to external energies. So constant exposure to stressful environments, crowds or what we might perceive as negative energy, without regular energetic cleansing practices can wear down boundaries and without time to recharge or reset, it becomes challenging to actually identify and distinguish our own energy from that of these collective fields. So all of these factors can contribute to weaker energetic boundaries and make it harder to differentiate between your own energy and that of other people's, and this can lead to feelings of overwhelm, anxiety, exhaustion. Strengthening our energetic boundaries involves connecting deeply to our center, to grounding well and to healing the emotional wounds and the trauma that we carry. And in the meantime, we're able to maintain regular energy clearing techniques, such as smudging our environment, epsom salt baths a great one and energetic protocols such as clearing and balancing.

Speaker 1Our next consideration might naturally be how to better differentiate our own energy from that of others. So, particularly in the high energy environments we discussed earlier, or for those who are particularly sensitive to other people's emotions, learning how to create clear boundaries is absolutely key, and primarily, this is about grounding and returning to our center. A key point to note is that when we are feeling other people's energy and feel like they are up in our field, to really note that we are also up in their field, so poor boundaries work both ways. If you're someone who regularly feels as if other people's energy is flooding your awareness, the balance to this is that your own boundaries will actually be really quite ill-defined and you will have a habit, whether it's consciously or otherwise, of leaving your own center and groundedness in order to go to them to feel into what others are experiencing over in their space. So when we're enmeshed or entangled with other people in this way, our energy, our emotions, our intentions and theirs actually become intermixed. So we lack clarity and we lack a sense of sovereignty. The point is that nobody's energy can hang about in your space or we might say, stick in your aura unless you hold onto it in some way. Unless you hold onto it in some way.
Speaker 1What is not often discussed in the world of empaths and energetic sensitivity and I'd really like to stress here is the importance of taking responsibility. Taking responsibility for our energy and our boundaries and our energetic communication is ultimately one of the most empowering things we can do for ourselves. It is resistance and judgments that trigger aura enmeshments, so the answer to these boundary blips is to change yourself by addressing the polarity or the resistance factor in you and the consequential stickiness that attracts or holds that energy in your aura. So the short answer is whatever is in your aura is your responsibility, even if it belongs to someone else. In the meantime, we can use energetic protection techniques such as visualizing protective barriers or using grounding practices to shield ourselves from external energies and influences. But in the long run, it is important that we are promoting and building a better and better state of balance, of harmony and centeredness in ourselves, staying put in our center, in our power, and this in turn ensures stronger and clearer boundaries to our field. Thank you.
Speaker 1Another common fear which arises in this area over and over again is how do I present myself from absorbing other people's energy, and I'd really like to return to this idea that our sensitivity and I do believe everybody has excellent sensitivity, whether it's heightened and overstretched, like we might see in people who take on the label of empath or empathic the sensitivity is our superpower, especially in the world of energy healing or holistic healing practices. Questions often arise in these areas around preventing energy absorption, particularly those who are empathic or sensitive, and at Field Dynamics we have a saying nothing sticks without Velcro, and this simply means that if we feel we have absorbed another's energy or worry or anxiety, for example, what's actually happening is their anxiety or their worry has triggered our anxiety or our worry. This is the Velcro, and the good news is, the more we can do, the more work we can do in a work to clean ourselves up and heal our imbalances, then the less sticks. So this is a very empowering way to consider our energy and our responsibility. We don't attract or attach to that which we have already worked through in ourselves. We may feel it, we may witness it, but it doesn't and can't hold traction in our system. It can simply be witnessed, it can be held, it can be seen, it can be welcomed and it can move through freely. So this is what holding space well, truly means we're holding the neutral container for such charges right distortions, if you will to be met with presence and neutrality and thus be transmuted or released. And the good news is, if our own stuff gets triggered along with someone else's stuff, then the ask is actually the same to simply see it, to welcome it and to release it. There's nothing to judge and hold onto. We then build and develop a strong energetic integrity, integrity being the state of being whole and undivided.
Speaker 1So empathic and energetic sensitivity can be highly valuable in healing work and developing good communication happens when we are conscious of our energetic sensitivity as a tool and as a skill, not a weakness or something to be feared to our own detriment. So it's true, people can be quite psychically overwhelmed by the constant broadcasting of surrounding difficulties in family fields, social field, the collective field, but our inner work and grounding helps bring our attention back to that center line in the body. Knowing the difference between your own and other people's emotional needs actually helps us to consciously tune out other people's broadcasts. So, as noted by Anadeya Judith, it needs to be a choice and not a duty to respond to other people's broadcasts, and this is standing properly in your personal power. So HSP, esp, right, high sense, extrasensory perception this psychic sensing or empathic sensing was sometimes thought of as a tool to gather information on others, to create judgment, maybe even to judge others, or act from a place of defense in response to attack, perceived attack. This sensing is actually at its purest when it's seen fundamentally as a tool with which to grow ourselves and to enrich ourselves in relation to others. So people are often curious about how to enhance their ability to deeply connect with others, but while avoiding energy depletion, and this involves practices like active listening, managing your own energy during conversations, so being actively aware of your center line and where your boundaries are. This also connects to the practice that might be described as energetic hygiene, which is much like physical hygiene. It involves practices for maintaining one's energetic health, and this can be a simple cleansing, release and restoration techniques.
Speaker 1But the important thing is not to fall into the polarizing and disappearing language of attack and defense or to sort of buy into this need for protection At its most fundamental level. Everything returns to the same core principles. As we become more and more stable, more balanced in our own center, our boundaries are naturally strengthened, and as we clear up more and more of our own imbalance and disharmony, we move towards a greater sense of coherency. So the less imbalanced and disharmonious energies can stick to us. We're better able to be in harmony, to be present, to be neutral to whatever is arising in ourselves and in others, without becoming entangled or triggered energetically.
Speaker 1So the more committed you are to your own path of energetic health, embodiment, inner work, the more you anchor this energy into the world and inform the space around you. This energy into the world and inform the space around you. Thanks for checking out this spotlight and we'll see you again for a future episode. Thanks for being a part of the future of wellness.
